DRUM TEACHING

ATC CULTURE & LAND-BASED LEARNING PROGRAM

The week of February 22-25, 2022, was Wellness Week at Anzac Bill Woodward School, focusing on Coping with Stress. ATC was asked to take part. We invited local community Knowledge Keepers to teach the cultural importance of drumming for both Déne and Cree cultures. Students learned the proper techniques for drumming, participated in a drum circle, learned songs, and played hand-games to the rhythm of the drums.

All participants followed COVID restrictions including rapid testing for staff before coming together for this important land-based learning opportunity.
