Calling all First Nation leadership & staff, elders,
care workers, service providers, health & youth workers!
Join us for ATC's Health & Wellness Conference in January 2019!
Attention ATC First Nation Community Members,
Athabasca Tribal Council is proud to announce that we will be hosting a Health & Wellness Conference on January 29-31, 2019 in Fort McMurray, Alberta. We are hosting the First Nations communities to come together, discuss and promote health & wellness.
The specific intent is to identify the health & wellness needs, issues and gaps in services post wildfire, and to create a 5-year wellness action plan adaptable for each Athabasca Tribal Council First Nation communities, to address identified needs in culturally appropriate and community specific ways.
The importance of this conference stems from the Horse River Wildfire in 2016 that caused the city of Fort McMurray and subsequent evacuations of many Indigenous Communities. That day our First Nation communities stepped up and played a tremendous role in supporting evacuees in the region. This fire has changed our entire region, and more than two years later we are gathering our community members together to talk about health and wellness from a holistic approach.
ATC will be working with First Nation leadership & health directors in your communities to identify key people to be in attendance. Your participation in this conference will be a great asset to your community.
Registration is required and must be completed and sent in ASAP. The registration deadline is Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Please note that certain costs will be covered for individuals attending the conference. Details to follow.
I have attached the conference poster for you to see for further event details.
