COMMUNITY FEAST & GATHERING
FALL MOOSE HUNT - CALL FOR MULTIPLE HUNTERS - HUNTERS MUST BE FROM FORT CHIPEWYAN
In preparation for the Fort Chipewyan fall moose hunts, ATC is seeking moose hunters to support community food sharing.
Hunters are compensated for their time, gas, and incidental costs from the Harvest Support Grant.
Any harvested moose are shared with the Fort Chipewyan community at the Community Feast & Gathering being planned for September/October.
Hunters will be encouraged to share their knowledge around traditional hunting and the land at the Gathering.
Interested moose hunters must apply by September 16, 2024.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
This program is part of the Harvesters Support Grant, funded by Nutrition North Canada.
The Grant provides funding to Indigenous governments and organizations to support hunting, harvesting and food sharing in isolated communities.
Fort Chipewyan is eligible for the Harvesters Support Grant, as it meets the following requirements:
be eligible for the Nutrition North Canada subsidy
lack year-round surface transportation (no permanent road, rail or marine access)
be reliant on air transportation for more than 8 months each year
meet the territorial or provincial definition of a northern community
have an airport, post office, or grocery store
have a year-round population according to the national census
