All community members of Fort Chipewyan are invited to pick up a turkey and a food basket filled with a turkey, potatoes, carrots, canned corn niblets, gravy packet, stuffing, apple pie, buns, butter, and cranberry sauce for their household.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

This program is part of the Harvesters Support Grant, funded by Nutrition North Canada.

The Grant provides funding to Indigenous governments and organizations to support hunting, harvesting and food sharing in isolated communities.

Fort Chipewyan is eligible for the Harvesters Support Grant, as it meets the following requirements:

• be eligible for the Nutrition North Canada subsidy

• lack year-round surface transportation (no permanent road, rail or marine access)

• be reliant on air transportation for more than 8 months each year

• meet the territorial or provincial definition of a northern community

• have an airport, post office, or grocery store

• have a year-round population according to the national census
