Ryan McMahon is an Anishinaabe comedian, writer, media maker and community activator from Couchiching First Nation in Treaty 3 Territory. As the founder & CEO of Makoons Media Group, Ryan brings Indigenous stories to light through conversations, research & investigation. He provides audiences with an in-depth, challenging analysis of the Indigenous experience & the reconciliation movement. Ryan inspires audiences to play their part in building a more equitable country.

vital to both Indigenous & non-Indigenous communities –
his comedic storytelling style is fast-paced, loose & irreverent as he explores the good, the bad & the ugly between Indigenous Country & the mainstream.
Ryan has blended the best practices of life skills, leadership programming, cultural teachings and Indigenous worldviews to create presentations grounded in fun, challenging & practical pedagogies that engage & activate communities. He tailors each presentation to the goals of the host community.
Recognized as one of Indian Country’s most decorated stand up comedians, Ryan has recorded 5 national comedy specials since 2010 (Turtle Island Too (CBC TV, 2010), UnReserved (CBC TV, 2012), Red Man Laughing (CBC Radio 1, 2015), CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival (Hystereotypes (2011), Good Neighbour (2014). He’s appeared at the prestigious Just For Laughs festival a number of times and tours North America independently. McMahon’s special, “Ryan McMahon – UnReserved,” made him the first Native comedian to ever record a one-hour mainstream comedy special. McMahon’s comedy is irreverent, boundary-pushing, and forward-looking as it investigates the good, the bad and the ugly between the collision of Indian Country and the mainstream.

Stephanie Harpe is an International Advocate for MMEIP Murdered or Missing and Exploited Indigenous Peoples, Murder Attempt Survivor and Family member who was a part of public testimony for the National Inquiry. Keynote Speaker for United Nations, traveled 45 Indigenous communities in western Canada and hosted MMEIP support group for 3 years. Completed 2 provincial action plans for Alberta for the National Action Plan, Grassroots works with oppressed people on human rights, safety and security. Developed 16 topics for Wellness and Safety Super clinics, lived experience coaching. Invited to London, Dubai and Malaysia for the largest youth conferences in the world to speak the truth of how Indigenous people have to survive their own country called Canada. TEDx talk titled Indigenous Suffering and Survival to Success. An award nominated singer and songwriter for Stephanie Harpe Experience (S.H.E.), Actress and former casting agent for local to Hollywood productions.

Rebecca Kragnes
Indigenous Business Relations Manager, Bird Construction
Rebecca is a Cree-Métis woman with a passion for Indigenous Relations and changing the socio-economic landscape for Indigenous people in Canada. She was born and raised in Fort McMurray and is a proud member of McMurray Métis 1935.
Rebecca is a Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician, with more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. Her work experience includes industrial construction and maintenance, government administration, and currently she provides executive level support as well as companywide education, engagement, and advocacy to support Indigenous equity within the construction industry.
Rebecca serves on the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) Board of Directors, The CAF JEDI committee and the CAF Supporting Women in the Trades (SWiT) task force member. She is a member of the Women Building Futures (WBF) Board of Directors and HRC Committee. She is fully committed to improving the representation of marginalized people in skilled trades across Canada.
Channeling her firsthand experience and knowledge of the barriers women, Indigenous people, and other underrepresented groups face in industry, Rebecca works with communities and organizations to promote opportunities to those groups (looking to pursue careers in the skilled trades.
