Medical Transportation Driver - Fort McMurray

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Medical Transportation Coordinator the Medical Transportation Driver will be responsible for the safe transportation of patients to and from the airport, hospital, and to various medical appointments. This includes supporting the team in arranging appointments and communicating these arrangements to the relevant parties. Alternatively, when not transporting patients, the position will work to assist the Medical Transportation Coordinator.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrange travel, accommodation, and meals for eligible members utilizing the MTRS data base system.

  • Drive members utilizing ATC fleet vehicles, and act as liaison between community and members to ensure safe and timely delivery of members to and from their appointments and/or accommodations.

  • Create and submit reports or other necessary paperwork regarding medical trip arrangements, outcomes, and ongoing concerns after each shift.

  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance.

  • Perform Pre- and Post-trip inspection of the vehicle.

  • Understand and sign ATC confidentiality agreement and maintain member confidentiality always.

  • Participate in team and staff meetings as well as meetings which would be appropriate to support both service delivery and organizational goals.

  • Adhere to all ATC policies and procedures and work in a culturally appropriate and relevant manner consistent with the ATC’s Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles.

  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Minimum 1-year experience transporting clients.

  • Defensive Driving Course preferred.

  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication abilities.

  • Exceptional organizational skills.

  • Excellent time management skills and prioritize work.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.

  • Able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.

  • Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • Child Intervention Record Check.

  • Class 4 License with a clear drivers abstract.

  • Provide after-hours and/or on call response.
