ATHABASCA TRIBAL COUNCIL WELCOMES DANIELLE SMITH, THE NEW PREMIER-DESIGNATE OF ALBERTA

(October 11, 2022, Fort McMurray, AB) – Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) would like to extend congratulations to Danielle Smith on her new role as the Premier-designate for Alberta. On October 6th, Danielle Smith won the United Conservative Party (UCP) leadership race and became the Premier-designate. 

 “We would like to welcome Danielle Smith in her new role as Premier-designate,” said Chief Allan Adam, President of the Athabasca Tribal Council. “The Board of Directors of ATC wish her great success in her new role and look forward to meeting and working with her and her cabinet to ensure the protection of Indigenous rights and autonomy of our Nation’s peoples.” 

“We will continue to work collaboratively with Danielle Smith and her new cabinet and the UCP caucus.” said Karla Buffalo, CEO of ATC. “Strong working relationships between all levels of governments and First Nations along with support organizations such as ATC, ensure the health and wellness of our communities and its members.”
