Held April 8 & 9, 2025 at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, and over 1500 people were seen in the two days.

RED DRESS SOLIDARITY WALK & MEMORIAL ROUND DANCE
On Sunday, May 5, 2024, it is estimated that 500 residents of the Wood Buffalo region and honoured guests gathered at Kiyam Community Park in Fort McMurray for a day of events.

Iron Chef Challenge
At the start of February, the ATC Boarding Homes students' attended their monthly team-building event. This month it was the Iron Chef Challenge, in partnership with Keyano College.

ATC Easter Family Carnival

New Year’s Round Dance & Tea Dance
ATC community members were encouraged to invite family, friends, and co-workers. Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike. All were welcome to experience this festive event.

MMEIP Solidarity Walk
Community members from all over the region, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, gathered on the National Day of Awareness for Murdered, Missing, and Exploited Indigenous People. To honour the survivors of abuse, the families who morn and those still affected by violence against Indigenous people. Attendees were encouraged to show solidarity by wearing a ribbon skirt or ribbon shirt with a jean jacket or jeans.

INDIGENOUS WORKFORCE SUMMITT
Community leaders, businesses, and employers joined the Athabasca Tribal Council and the Fort McMurray Construction Association for this innovative, collaborative summit to engage and support the increase of the Indigenous workforce in all industries, sectors, and job markets.

JUNIOR ROBOTICS + CODING CAMP
Students from ATC communities aged 7-14 participated in a fun weekend of creating their own robots that they were able to take home at the end of the camp.

Fish Fry
ATC partnered with Anzac School to provide an Ice Fishing Camp for students and finished up with a Fish Fry! Students learned how to gut properly, de-scale, and prepare for cooking. Of course, they got to cook up and eat some delicious fish! Students also honoured the successful catch by learning the importance of the drum and round dance.

Ice Fishing Camp
TC partnered with Anzac School to provide an Ice Fishing Camp for students from March 1-3, 2022. Students were able to experience ice fishing. They are learning skills from how to safely assess ice and the thickness, how to cut through the ice and of course, how to ice fish!

DRUM TEACHING
The week of February 22-25, 2022, was Wellness Week at Anzac Bill Woodward School, focusing on Coping with Stress. ATC was asked to take part. We invited local community Knowledge Keepers to teach the cultural importance of drumming for both Déne and Cree cultures. Students learned the proper techniques for drumming, participated in a drum circle, learned songs, and played hand-games to the rhythm of the drums.
