Fish Fry
ATC partnered with Anzac School to provide an Ice Fishing Camp for students and finished up with a Fish Fry! Students learned how to gut properly, de-scale, and prepare for cooking. Of course, they got to cook up and eat some delicious fish! Students also honoured the successful catch by learning the importance of the drum and round dance.
Ice Fishing Camp
TC partnered with Anzac School to provide an Ice Fishing Camp for students from March 1-3, 2022. Students were able to experience ice fishing. They are learning skills from how to safely assess ice and the thickness, how to cut through the ice and of course, how to ice fish!
DRUM TEACHING
The week of February 22-25, 2022, was Wellness Week at Anzac Bill Woodward School, focusing on Coping with Stress. ATC was asked to take part. We invited local community Knowledge Keepers to teach the cultural importance of drumming for both Déne and Cree cultures. Students learned the proper techniques for drumming, participated in a drum circle, learned songs, and played hand-games to the rhythm of the drums.
